What is Restorative Dentistry?
Restorative dentistry focuses on repairing damaged teeth and replacing missing ones, so you can smile, speak, and chew comfortably. Whether due to decay, injury, or wear, our restorative services help bring back your smile’s natural appearance and function.
Composite Fillings
A Natural-Looking Solution for Cavities and Minor Damage Composite fillings, also known as tooth-colored fillings, are used to repair cavities or minor chips in your teeth. Unlike traditional silver amalgam fillings, composite fillings blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, offering a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution.
Benefits of Composite Fillings:
Tooth-Colored: Blends naturally with your teeth, making them virtually unnoticeable.
Durable: Composite fillings bond directly to your tooth structure, offering strong and lasting results.
Versatile: Can be used to repair cavities, chips, or small fractures.
The Procedure:
After removing the decayed portion of your tooth, we will apply the composite material in layers, shaping and hardening each one with a special light. Once the filling is in place, it is polished to match the appearance of your natural tooth, giving you a seamless smile.
Dental Crowns
Strengthen and Restore Damaged Teeth If a tooth is severely damaged, weakened by decay, or fractured, a dental crown may be the best option to restore its strength and function. A crown is a custom-made “cap” that covers the entire visible portion of your tooth, providing protection and restoring its shape and size.
Benefits of Dental Crowns:
-
Protection: Shields your tooth from further damage or decay.
-
Natural Appearance: Our crowns are made to match the color and shape of your natural teeth, ensuring a seamless appearance.
-
Versatile: Can be used for large cavities, fractured teeth, after root canal treatments, or to restore dental implants.
The Procedure:
During your crown appointment, we will first prepare the tooth by removing any decayed or weakened areas. We’ll then take an impression of the tooth to create your custom crown. While your permanent crown is being made, we’ll place a temporary one to protect your tooth. Once your permanent crown is ready, we’ll cement it in place, restoring your tooth to full strength.
Dental Bridges
Replace Missing Teeth and Restore Your Smile. A dental bridge is a reliable solution for replacing one or more missing teeth. Using the surrounding teeth as anchors, the bridge consists of custom-made crowns and artificial teeth that fill the gap, restoring your ability to chew, speak, and smile with confidence.
Benefits of Dental Bridges:
-
Restores Function: Helps you chew, speak, and smile naturally.
-
Prevents Shifting: Prevents surrounding teeth from shifting into the gap left by missing teeth, preserving your bite.
-
Natural-Looking: Made from tooth-colored materials, bridges blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.
The Procedure:
To create a dental bridge, the teeth adjacent to the gap (called abutment teeth) will be prepared for crowns. Impressions will be taken to custom-make your bridge, which includes the artificial tooth (pontic) and crowns. A temporary bridge will be placed while your permanent one is being made. Once it’s ready, the permanent bridge will be secured in place, filling the gap and restoring your smile.
